Who is Ginger

Power House Blues singer lives near Dallas, Texas (originally from Teague TX) making her way around the TX Blues scene.  While somewhat new to the blues she has made her presence known.

She released her solo EP called "Blues Picked Me" in 2013 . It consist of 6 songs all written and performed by Ginger. This is a 6 song EP and the first solo EP put out by this amazing soulful Blues singer. It was recorded and produced at  Fast Horse Studio in Austin, TX by David Marshall and mixed and mastered by Dan Wilburn.  There are lots of great musicians on this EP including Carolyn Wonderland  playing on two of the tracks! "Blues Picked Me" available on Itunes, CD Baby and more.

The songs on this album mostly blues with a touch of swing/Gospel thrown in which brings something for everyone on this album. “My First Time Blues” is the one of her first songs written and performed so it had to be on the first album. “Change My Attitude” was inspired by a Lucky Tubb performance in 2011, it is about not taking anyone for granted. “Does It Matter” is a ballad love song a about a past (workaholic) love. “Cherry On My Sunday” was a quote from a drunken patron after one of her performances, just had to use that line in a song. “Pick Up The Phone” is the newest song on the album. Inspired by all the troubles her friends and family have been through lately. Last but not least “Blues Picked Me” the title of the album, is about living in DC were she really emerged into the Blues scene and found her niche.

She was very excited to be teaming up with Mark Searcy Middleton for duet project called the Pickett Searcy Coalition. The played  and won The Heart of Texas Blues Competition sponsored by Austin Blues Society at the famous Antone's. They went to Memphis and played at the International Blues Challenge. It was a great adventure and they learned a lot.

Mark and Ginger finished studio working on new song called "Don't Cry A Tear". Ginger wrote this song as she was going through some challenging health issues. Mark put music to the song making a it a beautiful soulful ballad.

A couple a years ago she added Christian songs to her repertoire. She is very honored to be playing for God with the Word of Victory Church Praise band!

She has been a guest singer on various projects including Mark Searcy Band "Roadworthy" cd where she was featured on first track singing an old Koko Taylor song "Voodoo Woman" and backups on "Dust In The Sand", "Loopty Loop and Wang Dang Love Thang". Next she did duet called A "Relationship That Just Won't Last "with Levi Darr on his brand new album "Now That Your Gone". Then project with Kenny Dean and the Texas Attitudes "Moving On With A Dream" singing backups on multiple tracks. Then singing lead vocals and backups on The TXLadybugs album "Shake What Yer Mama Gave Ya" .

Previous bands that she would like to mention. 4 In the Corner band out of Alabama (first band ever, it was classic rock with a little blues)  and first introduction to Susan Tedeschi who inspired her music style, then the Flying Z Band out of Maryland (classic rock and blues), and Hodge Podge Blues Band with Jeff Hodge (first band when she moved to San Antonio). Jeff co-wrote "Maybe It's Me" that was on The TX Ladybug's "First Rodeo" EP. They have all been great learning experiences and fun times. Along with TX Ladybugs they have made her the singer-songwriter/musician she is today. Currently pursuing a solo career at this time and a new chapter in the life of Ginger Pickett!
